Collation Filters Filter A liberal sprinkling of parks and tree-lined avenues, cheerful people and family-friendly places for eating out or staying in define Pärnu, a town that makes everybody feel welcome and at home. The sandy beach by the shallow bay where waters quickly reach swimming temperatures is a wonderful place for families with children. We have the largest aqua centre in Estonia, at Tervise Paradiis (Paradise of Health) Spa Hotel and a number of other spa and sauna centres where families can enjoy themselves. Should arts and crafts be your fare, there is a glass studio in the Punane torn (Red Tower), Maripott pottery or many more crafts studios at Maarja Magdaleena Guild, all located at a convenient walking distance of each other in the centre of the town. Alternatively, you could rent bicycles to discover our enchanting suburbia or sail the seas from the marina.
And if you fancy a change of scene, there is our countryside literally on the doorstep! At Valgerand you can test your physical strength and skills at various high-wire trails in the adventure park and at Lavassaare you can wander around and enjoy steam engines, rail carriages and many other railway memorabilia. Farm zoos are a good place to make an acquaintance with all sorts, that is, breeds of cattle, sheep, miniature ponies, rabbits, pygmy chicken and other animals. Our riding farms provide horse trekking trips, and if water is your element, rent a canoe from one of many providers to explore our rivers, or go for walks in our great outdoors. Both smaller and taller members of the family find something challenging to do and the winter season is no quiet time at all. There are skating and skiing trips, snowshoeing and kick sledging, rides in horse-drawn sleighs and many other cheerful events.
Audru muuseum
Audru Museum was opened in 1996 in the former manager's house of the Audru Manor. The permanent exhibition in the hall on the museum's top floor introduces the lives of Audru people over many centuries through writings, mementos and other items, such as old embroidery, school items, wooden items, etc. The manor building, which has been restored in it its original shape and its rare chimneys are separate objects of interest.
The biggest exhibits, such as the machines used for farm wok, are located in the yard museum.

C. R. Jakobsoni Talumuuseum Kurgjal
In the museum, you can learn about the life and work of Carl Robert Jakobson, who played a leading role during the times of Estonian national awakening in the 19th century, and the farm he established.
Animals are still kept on the farm so you can see cows, sheep and horses. You can also see the restored old farm buildings such as the cattle barn, mill, etc.
You can try your hand at farm work and learn about old ways. Farm Work Day, Autumn on the Farm, Christmas on the Farm and others have become traditional events. You can enjoy Estonian national food on the farm if you pre-order.

Eesti Muuseumraudtee Lavassaares
You can learn about the history of narrow-track railway in Estonia (1895-1975) in the former peat industry region at Lavassaare.
More than 70 items of rolling stock, including five steam engines, can be seen in the museum that was established in the 1980s. The exhibition inside the museum includes more than 500 different historical photos, items and documents. You can also buy pictures depicting the history of railway.

You can go for a ride on a museum train from June to September. You can choose whether you want to cover the 2 km railway section on a steam, diesel or picnic train. Read more
Häädemeeste muuseum
Häädemeeste coast has long and well known shipbuilding traditions, which are reminded by the memorials in Häädemeeste and Kabli, the impressive wooden homes of old captains and ship-owners and family graves in village cemeteries. Häädemeeste Museum, created in 1991, gives a good overview of the region's history. Local cultural heritage has been preserved here in words, pictures and videos, and the museum also has more than 300 research papers about the subject. Read more

Kihnu muuseum
You must go to the exciting Kihnu Museum when you visit the island. It like an anchor in preserving and introducing the cultural space of Kihnu, which has been entered in the UNESCO heritage list.
The museum was founded in the former schoolhouse of Sääreküla Village in 1974 and thoroughly renovated in 2009. You will find everything that concerns the everyday lives of people in the museum – tools, clothes, handicrafts, furniture. You will also find exhibitions that introduce famous Kihnu men, such as historian Theodor Saar, Captain Enn Uuetoa and silversmith Peeter Rooslaid, and the works of Kihnu nativists. Read more

Maarja-Magdaleena Gild
The craft guild unites Pärnu's artists and handicraft masters who reanimate old handicraft traditions and present them to the public. The open workshops offer different activities to everyone. Visitors can talk to the handicraft master, view the work process as well as buy or order art and handicraft items. There are many exhibitions, training courses and workshops organised regularly. Maria Talu Ratsakeskus
The Riding Centre on Maria Farm welcomes everyone interested in nature, horses and riding. Maria Riding Centre is 32 km from Pärnu, in Tõstamaa Rural Municipality. Horse breeding on the farm started in 1995 and it currently has 20 horses. Maria Farm is located near a beautiful pine forest that is perfect for long riding trips. In addition to tourism, people on the farm also train young horses, provide riding training and sell horses. Different equestrian competitions have been organised on Maria Farm every year since 1996. Mini Zoo
The Mini Zoo is located in the centre of Pärnu and visitors can see many interesting animals living in its terrarium.
The zoo’s collection consists of snakes from the Estonian viper Vipera berus to the large reticulated python and Python molurus. The venomous snakes found in the zoo also include the notorious Central Asian cobra and the Texas rattlesnake. The zoos collection also includes lizards such as some gecko species like the Tokee and the green iguana that have become popular pets in Estonia.

Most homes do not have several different breeds of bunnies, Estonian-bred cows, sheep and horses, not to mention pigs, mini-pigs, dogs and cats. You can see them all on Pihlaka Farm and communicate with them! Landlady Kati can also teach you some crafts: wool carding, weaving, grinding flour on a hand mill, peeling a log and using old-fashioned farm equipment.
