After strolling in parks or when on a shopping spree, a cup of tea or coffee and a delicious cake in one of the many cafes is just what you need. If your active day worked up your appetite there is fine dining available in a wide variety of venues, many with a menu from far-flung places, such as Asia or Mexico, not to mention Estonian, Russian, French or Italian cuisines. If you like to dine in style, there is medieval or 1930s Estonian-style cuisine too. There are fewer eateries in the countryside but on the main roads you are sure to find some. Most accommodation providers in the countryside have food available if you book in advance and also offer good local and artisanal food. The wonderful outdoors is good not only for rambling but also for picnicking.

Aleksandri Pub

The continuity of Aleksandri PUB was started a long time ago when Jakobson described the owner of the house Mathiesen in his book "Vaeste patuste Alevis" ("In the Small Town of the Poor Sinful"). Andrei, the great-grandfather of the present owner Andres Mathiesen, built and decorated the house and Aleksander, the grandfather, after whom the PUB has been named, started running "Õlletuba" (A Beer Room) in the same building in 1920. This was turned into a restaurant after a while, with white tablecloths. The continuity would have lasted if there hadn't been an enforced break for 50 years. Aleksandri PUB was reopened September 10th, 1995. Aleksandri PUB is a place for eating and spending your free time. there is a typically wide selection of PUB food with affordable prices, as well as a relaxing homely atmosphere, pleasant service and a broad selection of music that extends from blues to industrial rock.
