Pärnu has a host of cultural events on offer for its visitors. The focal points are the Endla Theatre, Pärnu Concert Hall and numerous art galleries and craft workshops. Concerts, performances, exhibitions and festivals suited to all tastes take place year round. The David Oistrakh Festival, Pärnu Organ Festival and Pärnu Opera Days are real treats for music gourmets. Pärnu International Film Festival caters for fans of anthropology films and art lovers have their traditional exhibition of nude art “Man and Woman”. Summer Music concert programmes take place in the garden of the Ammende Villa and at Valgre Festival homage is paid to the Estonian all-time favourite composer of pop songs. Pärnu County is an important historical cultural centre, for example one of the first local song festivals in Estonia was held here as early as 1867. Carl Robert Jakobson’s farm museum presents the life and time of this outstanding Estonian public figure from the 19th century. The island of Kihnu is always brimming with cultural events, local traditions are preserved and honoured and folk songs and dances are part and parcel of every family or public event. Visitors interested in culture can find enchanting churches and manors, find out about their fascinating stories and, with some good luck or careful preparation, attend concerts in their premises.

2 Vaasi

Helje Vaas is painting with her little hands: on post boxes, one and two-person swings, big and small key-boxes, jump ropes, cereal and spices boxes, toilet paper and paper towel holders, hangers and tablecloth anchors - everything she does adds a rustic look and warmth from her heart to their functionality. In a mischievous mood her brushstrokes finish humorous hangers, boxes holding first aid kits, refrigerator magnets, pictures for your walls, postcards and drawings on furniture. If you are desperate we will be of assistance or give you good advice! Kati Vaas has a good feel for space, she will help you with all kinds of interior solutions – from designing your home to providing fitting photos. Kati is observant and has cameras which have given rise to quite some exhibitions. We have a studio in Pärnu, in the house of Maarja-Magdaleena Guild, Uus Str.5. You can get everything from there if you need a present, or something for a wedding, to please yourself and for resting your eyes. If the 2 Vaases are added the third, then it must be Saturday and all the big and small handicraft makers are welcome to 2Vaas room at Maarja-Magdaleena Guild. (This offers parents some walking time on their own while their little ones are taken care of). Read more
